So of course after having a tooth abcess… I realize the tooth has to come out.  Holy fucking painful.  Apparently to take out a tooth with an abcess it takes double the anaesthetic,  which wears off twice as fast. It didn’t even last 15 min. Maybe 10. We were leaving to get the fabulous pain pills… and the pain ran me the fucking over. I wanted to die. Plus, no air conditioning in the car meant I also wanted to puke everywhere.  Thankfully, after 5 days of eating cheesecake,  eggo waffles, eggs, and mashed potatoes (oh and Percocet) I feel better. Still uncomfortable, but livable.

For those 5 days I just slept as much as I could. Watched a little TV and played Wildstar when the percs worked well.

So I have 2 weeks til I go back home and there are still a few people I have yet to see.  Luckily, I get to see Jena tomorrow! ! So very excited to hang out and see the baby belly.  Everyone else better get their shut together before they miss me!

My niece has been doing puzzles the past day and just kept doing little ones. So today I made her bust out the 750 piece Thomas Kinkade Dream Collection – Cinderella puzzle. She actually helped this time and it took like 6 hours.  She wants to do the giant castle next.

Not only did I just get wifi back after being like 5 days without it, but it is raining!  And I don’t mean a little.  The backyard here in Arizona is flooded, and the street is flooded onto the sidewalk.  Some great thunder and lightening! Of course, my niece didn’t get to sleep before it so she’s a bit freaked out, but the dogs will keep her feeling safe.

The other day while not having access I wrote a post thinking I’d be back on the next day… since I wasn’t .. here ya go!

While digging through information about Elizabeth Bathory for my paper rewrite I stumbled upon something rather interesting. A movie that I had been meaning to see again for some time, Stay Alive, was based on Elizabeth Bathory. Not by any means is it historically accurate – I mean come on it bases the story in New Orleans.. centuries after the real one lived. But, it is still an amazing movie.

Stay Alive (2006)

I’ve been trying to watch this recent season of Orphan Black, but the internet has not been kind. In fact, I am writing this to post tomorrow because the router died. No gaming, no streaming. It’s a hard life. haha.

It is nice to have a quiet house while the kids are with their dad, but it’s odd too, I almost don’t know what to do with myself. Lucky for me I have movies to watch and things to write. I do wish I had things to code as well.

For now I am enjoying Les Miserables. I truly love this movie. The actors really put all they had into it. While I’m speaking of musicals I highly recommend seeing the play Into the Woods starring Bernadette Peters. They are making a movie version that will be out in December, and it has a lot to live up to in my eyes.

And recently we spent a bit of time teaching the kids about the ‘old movies’ we love.  We introduced them to The Princess Bride and The Breakfast Club.  In the next week or so we will find some more for them to love.

So like most places, Arizona is unusually hot this summer.  Like so hot we don’t go swimming during the day.  And the one day I did we spent 6 hours at my bestie’s pool and wanted to die after lol.

It’s fun hanging out with the kids for the most part.. and then there is the part where they annoy the crap out of me and won’t leave me alone.  Luckily, my nephew goes to summer school in the afternoon so I get a little break from him.  That does leave us with my niece who can’t seem to find enough to do and has to constantly ask us to do stupid crap.  Which makes me wanna scream.

4th of July is coming up and I don’t know about all of you but I plan to swim, eat bbq, and drink a bit.  Should be an interesting time.  I hope all of you have fun and stay safe!

On a sadder note, I was informed that when I get home to Maryland that we might be down a dog.  Sissy is 16 years old and has been acting weirder than usual. I can’t say this is sudden, but it’s still unwanted.

We are watching Pitch Perfect for like the millionth time because my niece is obsessed. She seriously knows this movie by heart.  Although, it is cute when she dances along.  I’m going to go melt in a corner now because it’s freaking 104 degrees outside and barely after 1pm.  Popsicles have become my best friend!

P.S. Blue rocks.

A lot of you know that whenever a big “break” comes up – winter or summer – I go visit my family and friends in Arizona.  The upside to being an underpaid tutor is summer off!  Although, I can’t wait to get back to work because it is incredibly rewarding to watch students get that ‘aha’ moment and start to shine.

Just before leaving to come visit Arizona I went with Kristen to see Maleficent. See it. I freaking loved this adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, and I’ve seen a lot of versions.  The movie is amazing.

Angelina Jolie has always been one of my favorite actresses and she really knows how to be the perfect villain.

So far vacation has only consisted of a little drinking, a bit of swimming, lots of being annoyed by my niece and nephew, and a little baking.

I totally forgot to take pictures, but so far this week we made homemade pizza, homemade bagels, and my sister made the best cookie bars ever.  Apparently the bagels rocked because all 12 were gone before 24 hours was up.  I’ll have to try different versions with this household as guinea pigs.

I keep trying to work on redoing my Alice site, but the kids bug me about each little thing I’m doing and “why is it taking so long?”  Hopefully, I’ll get a little free time this weekend so I can get things rolling.  I am hoping that my best friend’s little sister wants me to create her a site (she’s a fabulous artist) so that I have something to do this summer, because I miss coding all day!  Of course, come fall I’ll complain of coding too much when I go back to school for my Bachelors.

Crossing my fingers I can do something about our internet here at my sister’s tomorrow because it keeps eating shit whenever I want to stream a game or show.  Which makes me and my nephew super cranky.  Tried to watch Pacific Rim earlier so I could get my Charlie Hunnam fix and it died like 20 minutes in.  I’m losing it waiting for the next, and sadly last, season of Sons of Anarchy.  I am super excited to see who Marilyn Manson’s character is.

The upside and downside of being somewhat emotionally stable is boredom.  I don’t really care and I don’t really feel like doing things, but want to do things at the same time.  How do ‘normal’ people handle this all the time?  At least when I’m being all bipolar things are interesting.

Another project I’m going to work on this summer is recreating a paper I wrote years ago on the evolution of vampires in our culture.  It’s sad that they are no longer scary.  I much prefer the blood and guts versions.  It is interesting to see how we progressed to sparkling vampires and I hope I can find some of the same references I had.  I still can’t believe I lost both the written paper and the file on my flash drive.  Probably threw it away in some manic cleaning phase. Oh well.

So I am going to try and remember to write here at least once a week.  I know you all missed my craziness and everyone can always use a good dose!

Last week I graduated with my Associate’s Degree in Multimedia/Web Design. Woohoo!  Which prompted me to set up my site to do some freelancing while continuing my education.  Since I’m a tutor at Chesapeake College I have the summer off and I’m going to spend it with my family in Arizona.

You can see some of my work  at ambivalentlizarddesigns.com.  I’m currently working on updating the Alice site I did my first semester for this degree.  A darker updated site.

For the final week of class we had our annual party and of course I made cupcakes.  This was my first time piping roses, but they turned out alright.  Painting the Roses Red!

And most recently I saved a kitten.  My friend Kristen had some living under her shed that we tried to catch.  So far only this one has been caught, which sucks because we also want the black one!  Here is my Alice.

Rather annoying little shit loves to scratch the hell out of me, but I love her anyway.

2 more days and WildStar releases!  Well, for those of us that pre-ordered.  Super excited to play this new game!  I played in beta and it rocked.  So that is all I plan to do next week with my nephew.  For now I suppose I should go work on my Alice site!

Wow, I can’t believe that it has been almost a year since I posted something.  Time really flies when you are busy!  I am now 1 class away from my second Associate’s Degree, ugh stupid math, and am currently doing an internship.

I finally have a site that I built live. While I am annoyed with her right now, I will share …  andymcfly.com.

For now I cannot share the site I am doing for my internship, but hopefully soon they will approve it and then I can.

During their Spring Break my sister brought her kids up, and they were sooo happy about the snow.  I’m glad someone was, because all of us here in MD were so over it by the time March hit.  Anyway, while they were here we made some awesome TMNT cupcakes!

They had to have more than just happy faces according to my nephew.. so some apparently had their pizza stolen and had to cry.

I found an interesting show on History… Cryptid The Swamp Beast.  It is a mix of fact and fiction and pretty damn interesting.

OH and don’t forget to go to Curse.com and check out the beta keys for Wildstar.  Seems like it is going to be an awesome game.  I played some of the beta this past weekend and I can say it was pretty good.

On that note.. I’m going to go play some video games since work is slow!

Things happened so fast I didn’t even have time to warn any of you!  At the beginning of July I drove from Maryland to Arizona.. alone.. longest 3 days of my life!  Got to hang out with my sister and her kids.. partially helping her survive cuz she had surgery.  Then on the 20th we flew to Orlando, FL!  Great week at Saratoga Springs Resort, got the kids to go on Splash Mountain, and did lots of swimming.  The only thing that really sucked was that it rained so much we missed going to the beach.  We did go to Ghirardelli’s Soda Fountain tho! Best sundae ever!!!!

Now I’m back home with a still swollen and painful ankle, that I twisted in the airplane on the way to Florida.  Nice to get some rest now though.. as much as I love those kids they can wear ya out.  Couple weeks til school starts so it’s time to get ready for that.  Gotta buy some books n such.

Disney World definitely needs more Jack Skellington.  He was confined to the corner/one wall of the Christmas shop.  Tragic.  However, I did get myself a new coffee cup and this awesome purse –

Plus we got to make some magnets, banners, ceramics, and coloring pages at the resort with the kids.

Time to catch up on my gaming.. I’m behind and feel out of sorts since I don’t know whats going on in Guild Wars 2.  Plus, no one is really playing Neverwinter anymore and I’m being subjected to DC Universe.  I think Neverwinter is better than DC… so if you find yourself in need of a free game.. choose the first!

Yes, I know I have been neglectful once again.  Summertime has gotten to me.  All the humidity and heat has me being uber lazy!  I have managed to check out a new game – Neverwinter.  Based on Dungeons and Dragons, free to download, free to play, officially out of beta on the 20th.  I was a little skeptical as I have no knowledge of D&D, but figured what’s the harm in trying something free?  Totally awesome.  Great gameplay, good toons, lots to do.  AND there is player made content!!! The Foundry rocks.  Some of the player made content has to do with the game and the lore, and some is totally random.  There are some very hilarious foundry quests.  If you have time, definitely check it out!  This is my Control Wizard standing on a giant awesome clock!

I did come up with my own foundry quest to create, it just takes a lot of time and patience to get it together.  Hopefully, I will develop more patience so I can finish making it.  The script was apparently the easy part lol.

I saw Man of Steel on Saturday…. meh.  It was the kind of movie that is good to see in a theater, but I realized that I thought of other things a few times during the movie and a really good one would have kept my attention.  The end was great tho.  Overall, worth seeing once but I doubt I’d ever watch it again.  Now You See Me is a completely different story.  LOVED IT.  Totally grabbed my attention and held it.  Didn’t see the end coming and I want the movie!  Go see it!

My grandfather is coming next week so that means I am forced to put my room away and clean up.  I was leaving stuff in boxes because the basement isn’t finished, but it has to look nice when he visits.  I’m sure some of you understand.

I want to make some honey wheat bread this week, but the process is so long every time I look at the recipe I go.. nah.  Maybe if I make cupcakes at the same time… cuz then the dough could rise while I do other stuff.. maybe.. Totally depends on whether or not I can get over this “nothing looks good maybe I’ll just starve” week. I love food and I hate eating it when nothing looks/tastes good!  I totally bought myself some White Castle frozen burgers to eat tho, I mean I figure I can’t not eat those.. so yummy!  I wish they were fresh from White Castle, but the closest is in like PA!

Trying to figure a way to make some money so I can go visit some friends in Canada.  It isn’t overly expensive to drive there, but right now it is out of my budget.  I’ll just dream of all that I could see along the way and all the fun we could have until I can find a better job doing what I actually like.  Sadly, it seems that even finding a contracting job for web design/development is out of my reach.  I will keep hoping and ranting on for all of you til then =P

I have been so neglectful of my poor blog lately, but only 2 weeks left until finals are over!  I am still working some kinks out on my Alice site, because of course it doesn’t want to line up all nice for me without some tweaks.  However, for my digital design class I made “the last flower on earth.” Everyone thought it was pretty kool so I thought I’d share it here.

Print

Unfortunately the awesome steam punk background isn’t showing up!  So I will get the background up soon – I can’t now because I just went from Windows Vista to Windows 8 Pro and I still have to put my adobe programs back on the comp and therefore can’t make my illustrator files into gifs.

Damien_ rip

On a very sad note Damen, middle, passed away this last week and I will miss him terribly.  Everyone will.  He was a great guy that made life fun and improved the lives of those around him.  In case anyone who reads this is in Arizona.. Jolie’s Place in Chandler is having a benefit for his family May 5th from 2-6pm.  It would be much appreciated if anyone could go help out as I myself cannot.

Now, hopefully in the next couple of days I can link you my updated Alice site.. if I can stop playing Guild Wars 2!  I have been overly addicted this past week and procrastinating even more than usual.  Spring fever is here!  Looking forward to no more homework for awhile and hopefully a few fun road trips this summer.  Haunted locations here I come!
