Not only did I just get wifi back after being like 5 days without it, but it is raining!  And I don’t mean a little.  The backyard here in Arizona is flooded, and the street is flooded onto the sidewalk.  Some great thunder and lightening! Of course, my niece didn’t get to sleep before it so she’s a bit freaked out, but the dogs will keep her feeling safe.

The other day while not having access I wrote a post thinking I’d be back on the next day… since I wasn’t .. here ya go!

While digging through information about Elizabeth Bathory for my paper rewrite I stumbled upon something rather interesting. A movie that I had been meaning to see again for some time, Stay Alive, was based on Elizabeth Bathory. Not by any means is it historically accurate – I mean come on it bases the story in New Orleans.. centuries after the real one lived. But, it is still an amazing movie.

Stay Alive (2006)

I’ve been trying to watch this recent season of Orphan Black, but the internet has not been kind. In fact, I am writing this to post tomorrow because the router died. No gaming, no streaming. It’s a hard life. haha.

It is nice to have a quiet house while the kids are with their dad, but it’s odd too, I almost don’t know what to do with myself. Lucky for me I have movies to watch and things to write. I do wish I had things to code as well.

For now I am enjoying Les Miserables. I truly love this movie. The actors really put all they had into it. While I’m speaking of musicals I highly recommend seeing the play Into the Woods starring Bernadette Peters. They are making a movie version that will be out in December, and it has a lot to live up to in my eyes.

And recently we spent a bit of time teaching the kids about the ‘old movies’ we love.  We introduced them to The Princess Bride and The Breakfast Club.  In the next week or so we will find some more for them to love.

A lot of you know that whenever a big “break” comes up – winter or summer – I go visit my family and friends in Arizona.  The upside to being an underpaid tutor is summer off!  Although, I can’t wait to get back to work because it is incredibly rewarding to watch students get that ‘aha’ moment and start to shine.

Just before leaving to come visit Arizona I went with Kristen to see Maleficent. See it. I freaking loved this adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, and I’ve seen a lot of versions.  The movie is amazing.

Angelina Jolie has always been one of my favorite actresses and she really knows how to be the perfect villain.

So far vacation has only consisted of a little drinking, a bit of swimming, lots of being annoyed by my niece and nephew, and a little baking.

I totally forgot to take pictures, but so far this week we made homemade pizza, homemade bagels, and my sister made the best cookie bars ever.  Apparently the bagels rocked because all 12 were gone before 24 hours was up.  I’ll have to try different versions with this household as guinea pigs.

I keep trying to work on redoing my Alice site, but the kids bug me about each little thing I’m doing and “why is it taking so long?”  Hopefully, I’ll get a little free time this weekend so I can get things rolling.  I am hoping that my best friend’s little sister wants me to create her a site (she’s a fabulous artist) so that I have something to do this summer, because I miss coding all day!  Of course, come fall I’ll complain of coding too much when I go back to school for my Bachelors.

Crossing my fingers I can do something about our internet here at my sister’s tomorrow because it keeps eating shit whenever I want to stream a game or show.  Which makes me and my nephew super cranky.  Tried to watch Pacific Rim earlier so I could get my Charlie Hunnam fix and it died like 20 minutes in.  I’m losing it waiting for the next, and sadly last, season of Sons of Anarchy.  I am super excited to see who Marilyn Manson’s character is.

The upside and downside of being somewhat emotionally stable is boredom.  I don’t really care and I don’t really feel like doing things, but want to do things at the same time.  How do ‘normal’ people handle this all the time?  At least when I’m being all bipolar things are interesting.

Another project I’m going to work on this summer is recreating a paper I wrote years ago on the evolution of vampires in our culture.  It’s sad that they are no longer scary.  I much prefer the blood and guts versions.  It is interesting to see how we progressed to sparkling vampires and I hope I can find some of the same references I had.  I still can’t believe I lost both the written paper and the file on my flash drive.  Probably threw it away in some manic cleaning phase. Oh well.

So I know she isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I LOVE Emilie Autumn.  I think she is an amazing artist and has so much talent for so many things!  Plus, she’s bipolar like me so seeing how much she has accomplished helps me think I can too!  She recently released a video and one of my friends back in Arizona is actually in it!  Kinda cool to be watching it and then going “oh oh I know him!”  I don’t know what her inspiration was for this video, but it’s the best music video ever.  Just the right mix of fucking crazy, sex, and awesomeness.  Emilie Autumn is about as girly as I get and she’s fairly girly to an extent lol.

I’ve been working on getting my things brought down from my old room to the new, super unexciting but necessary. At least it’s at least 10 degrees cooler down here most of the time now that it’s getting hot, humid, and nasty.  Gonna have to work on my tan soon so that I’m not blinding people when we go to Florida in July.  Crossing my fingers that the internship I requested information about will allow telecommuting, hopefully I hear back on Monday!

Today I noticed that The Bates Motel was on A&E so I thought I’d finally see what all the fuss was about.  I don’t get it.  Maybe because I didn’t watch it from the beginning, but I am so lost about so many things.  And because of that I can’t decide if I like it or not.  It does draw my attention pretty well, but who knows.  I am very excited that Falling Skies season premiere is soon, that show rocks.  This week was the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy and of course they left a huge cliffhanger!  Not as bad as last season, but still one that had me yelling at the tv.  My plan next week is to watch Defiance and see if that’s any good.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention.. Tuesday was my birthday!  My kick ass friend Megan got me a new Jack Skellington wallet!  AND cupcake supplies!  New liners, gel, icing, and sprinkles.  So this week I have to figure out a new recipe to try.  I’m thinking maybe chocolate-orange.  That’s always a tasty combination.  Anyway, now that you’ve finished reading all my jibber jabber.. here it is!

While I don’t usually go out of my way to listen to country music, it is always one of the kinds I turn to when commercials come on the radio.  And lately I’ve been kinda into turning it on more.  Love me some Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town, The Band Perry, and Taylor Swift.  Today is totally a country day.  Had to spend some time getting together a list of why my mother should buy what computer and cell phone because she is tech stupid lol.

I’ve decided to go dark background bright pop of flowers for my design assignment. I’m thinking a color pop similar to this:bluelips rainbowlips

I like the shine and the colors.. not sure how to do it, but i will figure it out damnit! Any hints would be appreciated!

Totally trying to think of some cupcakes to make for finals day for my multimedia class.  I want it to be something artistic and creepy.  Possibly spiders.  I’d have to do something more with them tho.  I could always make some Alice ones – a mix of Disney’s Alice and American McGee’s.

On another note, the lady I was tutoring on Dreamweaver is awesome and I can now dye my hair and go buy American McGee’s Alice: Madness Returns for PS3 so that I can get the add-on for the original!  I’ve been dying to play the original for years now! Nothing like a new video game to stop productivity on school work! Luckily I like most of my school work so I’ll still do it.

I’m curious, any of you have anything you’d like to see me write about? I’m always up for a challenge!

So I have issues sleeping.. can’t fall asleep.. wake up randomly.. and other times I’m completely dead to the world.  So last night I can’t fall asleep.. and then in the early morning I think I was dead to the world since I didn’t hear my parents leave.  As I’m kind of waking up I suddenly think IT’S WEDNESDAY!  And go OH SHIT! I have an appointment at 1!!! And of course I had forgotten so I quick jump up n grab my phone to see what time it is… 12:35!!  I barely have time to get dressed and run out the door, thankfully the appointment was close by so I wasn’t late, but I couldn’t believe I’d forgotten.  I mean I see her every week!  So now I guess I need to write myself little notes and put them places I can see them so I don’t forget.  I feel very old at such a young age!

So after my appointment I get home and I’m like maybe I should eat something.  Well, as you know I have food issues lately so I had no idea what to eat.  I finally settled on french fries.  So I sit down to watch t.v. while the oven is preheating and there is nothing on.. so I check our DVR and see Wanderlust.  Never heard of it, but I like Jennifer Aniston so I figured I’d check it out.  Freaking HILARIOUS!  I was a little wary cuz I’m not all about the whole commune thing, but they did well.  I laughed pretty hard at some parts.  And of course the nudist in the commune wasn’t very good looking.. and you see his penis.  Glad I didn’t watch the movie with my parents cuz that would have been weird.

Since I bought my textbooks on amazon yesterday I got $5 free in MP3’s.   I was like hell yea!  Then of course I couldn’t think of anyone who’s music I actually wanted and settled on music from The Devil’s Carnival, Repo! The Genetic Opera, and Emilie Autumn.  So now I’m all omg I have to watch those again!  Yay for my buddy Cole who has Netflix!  Now I can sit back and enjoy some cult classics! (Well, they aren’t old enough to be classics, but I think they will be some day!)  If you haven’t seen them I HIGHLY recommend you watch them.  Especially if you like Rocky Horror.  Apparently now they are doing shadowcasts of Repo! just like they do of Rocky!!! I seriously need to get myself to VA and see it.  If I had known this before I went to Arizona for Christmas I would have seen the one there since that is where I lost my Rocky virginity.

Anyway, the people that did Repo! also did The Devil’s Carnival.  While I was not lucky enough to see either of them while they were touring the country I am a huge fan!  When The Devil’s Carnival does their next installment I am all over that shit.  Creepy musicals with a crazy story line are totally me.  If I had the talent I’d write my own.  But since I don’t I will happily watch these over and over.  Terrance Zdunich is awesome.  A very, very talented artist.  Not only is his voice captivating, but he’s pretty damn hot.  This is one of my favorite songs of his from Repo!

And of course I can’t forget to give you a clip of him from the Carnival. This is Terrance (the devil) and Jessica Lowndes.

And since I have a semi-obsession with Emilie Autumn here she is in The Devil’s Carnival as The Painted Doll.

If you decide you love this as much as I do go to TheDevilsCarnival.com and Repo-Opera.com.  You can learn more and buy stuffs of course!  And if you love Emilie there is EmilieAutumn.com – she is currently touring in the U.S.  I would kill to be able to go to her show.  But the closest to me are DC and Philly.. and I am broke just like everyone else nowadays.  Tragic I know.  I went to one of Emilie’s shows in Arizona during her last tour and it was amazing!  I have some pictures somewhere and I’ll be sure to post them when I find them. (I’ve had computer problems lately so I had to put everything onto discs and flash drives.)  Emilie even wrote an autobiography which is called “The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls.”  I have yet to read it because I never seem to have the cash for it (currently $60 plus shipping) and I haven’t found anywhere that has it local.  I need to make friends with someone who has it so I can borrow it.  Which sounds a bit mean, but it’s true!

My friend Erol was lucky enough to have moved to L.A. just before Emilie shot her last music video (Dec.).  He got to be in it!  He even hung out with Emilie and Captain Maggot.  Total jealousy on my part.  I can’t wait til the video comes out, I don’t even know what song it was she did.  I do hope that her book gets made into a musical.  It would be devastatingly amazing considering the  music on “Fight Like a Girl” (her latest album) was inspired by the book.  I’m such a plague rat!

Edit: STUPID NETFLIX!! You can no longer stream Repo! I have to settle for ONLY The Devil’s Carnival! Blasphemy!

Well, there are a few things in my life I’m semi-obsessed with.  One of these things is anything to do with mental illness and mental hospitals.  I’m talking movies, books, pictures of abandoned places, and anything else you can think of.  So of course one of my favorite movies is Girl, Interrupted.  And something that stuck with me was when they talk about the definition of ambivalence “simultaneous and contradictory attitudes or feelings (as attraction and repulsion) toward an object, person, or action” (merriam-webster.com)  I feel this way about a lot of things in life so the word has stuck with me for years.

Another one of my semi-obsessions is Sons of Anarchy.  I absolutely love this show!! I can’t get enough of it.  It will be a tragedy when the show ends.  I’ve always been fascinated with that sort of life, even when I was a kid, so to see it in a t.v. show was awesome.

Cupcakes. Really need I say more?  The drag queens back in Arizona used to call me their cupcake bitch because I could always be counted on to make cupcakes for a charity show.  Something about making cupcakes just makes me happy.

Since we’re talking about my semi-obsessions I figure I should let you know about the rest.  I love skulls.  Be it metal ones that go on a wall, candle holders, jewelry, anything.  I also love Jack Skellington.  I have purses, coffee cups, shirts, and I always find something new I want on Amazon.  I also love movies.  All different kinds.  Everything from Hello, Dolly! to Resident Evil.  I am a big fan of horror movies (big surprise right?) but when I say that I mean real gore.  I’m not watching any Paranormal Activity crap.  I’m watching Dario Argento’s version of Phantom of the Opera where the phantom bites of a guys tongue and there’s fake blood ALL over.  Yes, I am a twisted freak – Thanks for noticing!

I also have a thing for Laurell K Hamilton.  She writes the best erotica – vampires, werewolves, wereleopards, faeries, etc.  I have almost all of her Anita Blake series and every time a new book comes out I read it in a day and just can’t wait for the next.  I also have a thing for Alice in Wonderland.  I don’t just mean the original cartoon.  I mean anything and everything Alice.  Alice: Madness Returns is amazing.  I wish I had played the original American McGee’s Alice, but alas I don’t have a copy.  Feel free to send me one! hehe.  The darkness applied to the fairy tale rocks.  I mean really the reason Alice even existed was because Lewis Carroll was a tad demented.
